Ginger Kongo found! :)

Hello,

Well the blog has been running for a week now and today we take a temporary break from modding.

Yesterday I went to my local(ish) Bad Taste Bear retailer to go and buy Marco. I actually brought two but I will show why in a future blog. It is a weird feeling to look at a finished bear that you drew on a scrap of paper only a few months previously. I also bagged a metallic Murphy and a metallic Johnny to go with the Billy I already have. Then I picked up a Kongo. I needed 2 green tokens in order to complete a ‘Nursery Crimes’ card I have and so I thought to myself, shall I buy a second Kongo or not?

At this point my mind is reminding me that in my 5 years of collecting 500+ bears I have never found a variation, golden bear or anything other than a standard bear. Then my heart went and said ‘Oh go on!’ and so feeling lucky I choose another random Kongo.

Now usually I scarper back to the car and open my bears to see if my string of bad luck has changed, but this time presuming the bears were bound to be normal I drove the 40 minutes drive home first. Once home I slowly opened my Kongo's, like Charlie would open a Wonka Bar, Hehe. The first one was standard, surprise, surprise, but I was not too fussed, as he was an awesome bear. I opened the second Kongo and a piece of card fell out. “What the bloody hell is this?” I thought, as the first bear had not got a card in it. Turning the card over revealed that I had in fact just unearthed a Ginger Kongo, 1 of only 100 in the World! To say I was over the moon is an under-statement I think!

This blog entry just goes to show that you should never give up hope. Follow your heart and you wont go far wrong. (That’s not to say that I recommend spending tens of thousands on a 30” Kongo!!) I wish everybody good luck in finding a rare Kongo, and I must say the Ginger version is truly amazing.

As always I shall post a fresh update tomorrow.

Thanks :)
